Yesterday, we had our usual Sunday afternoon “Healing Music 101” class.\u00a0 We had such a wonderful discussion that I thought my readers would be interested to know what some of the ideas that emerged were.\u00a0 The theme of the day was sharing some specific pieces that make us feel:\u00a0 sad, angry, scared or happy\/energized.\u00a0 Many pieces of music were thought of and talked about…and the winners were:<\/p>\n
Sad:\u00a0 Theme from “Schindler’s List”\u00a0 Theme from “Titanic”\u00a0 Cavatina from “The Deer Hunter”<\/p>\n
Happy\/Energizing:\u00a0” I’d like to teach the World to Sing”\u00a0 “Oh Happy Day”\u00a0 “The Spanish Lady” by Celtic Woman<\/p>\n
Scary:\u00a0 “Theme from Psycho,”\u00a0 “Theme from Jaws”\u00a0 “Danse Macabre”<\/p>\n
Angry:\u00a0 “Gangsta Rap”\u00a0 “We Will Rock You”\u00a0 “Rite of Spring”<\/p>\n
Now all of these are definitely open to discussion but I think you probably get the idea!\u00a0 Obviously the Hollywood composers are particularly gifted at expressing feelings or moods that depict action on the screen.\u00a0 Several of these pieces of music are by John Williams, one of the great composers of the 20th century.<\/p>\n
