Have you seen “Celtic Woman”?

April 1st, 2008 · Music Review

Tonight I went to one of the best concerts/shows of my life!  I went to see the show “Celtic Woman” at the Palace Theater in Louisville and it was fantastic!  Of course I love Celtic music anyway and I’ve been seeing this group on TV for several years now.  When I heard that the group was coming back to Louisville this year I knew I had to go.  I waited until almost a week ago and when I checked the ticket prices I gasped…they were $88 and $102.00  I will tell you that tonight I was able to get a better price than that and even though I was up in balcony 4 I could see very well.

The energy and beauty of this program was unmatched by any concert show I’ve ever been to and you know that I’ve been to a lot.  The young woman that dances around with her violin, playing all the while, is simply amazing!  I’m thinking seriously of going back again tomorrow night.  At the end of the concert tonight they actually did 4 encores!!!   Each one was better than the one before.  If you have a chance to see this brilliant group of singer and instrumentalists, do NOT miss it!!

The Lullaby Effect

March 31st, 2008 · The Lullaby Effect

One of the most gratifying things that a pregnant woman or new mother can do is sing lullabies to her unborn or newborn infant. Mothers have been doing this for millions of years and not only is it calming and soothing to the infant, but it’s also calming and soothing to the mother, the father, and anyone who is within earshot. As a mother of three daughters, I know that singing or humming softly to them made such a difference in all our lives. Even today, my youngest daughter, now in her 20’s will sometimes ask me to sing her a lullaby!
You may also know that lullabies have been shown to help preemies in a hospital NICU to gain weight faster, stabilize biorhythms faster and get released from the hospital faster. At a cost of $15,000 per day in the NICU, this is a fantastic benefit.
Today I got a new batch of lullaby CD’s to take with me on my next speaking tour. If you hurry, you can get one for your new baby, friend’s baby, or grandbaby! You’ll need to order NOW because I only ordered 50!! These won’t last the weekend if people find out. Click here to order!

What IS the Mozart Effect?

March 31st, 2008 · The Mozart Effect...why Mozart?

In 1997 a book was published called “The Mozart Effect.” It took the world by storm and immediately created quite a controversy. I believe that many people misunderstood what the author/editor was trying to say about the music of Mozart. This blog attempts to clear up some of the controversy and define some of the things that make Mozart’s music uniquely healing.

Music’s Healing Power: Medicine of the Future

March 27th, 2008 · Music Healing

Those of you that have been following my website ezine and my other blogs may wonder why I am starting yet another blog.  This is really kind of an experiment.  The bottom line is, I want to get the word about music’s healing power out to as many people as possible and the “gurus” tell me that have a WordPress blog that is “housed” on my site www.HealingMusicEnterprises.com is the way to go!  So, I’ll give it a try.  Please let me know how you like it!

I’d like to let you know tonight that there has been a lot in the news lately about Mozart!  One newspaper article from Sacramento, CA talked about police playing Mozart over loudspeakers in parking lots where gangs were gathering and causing lots of problems.  After Mozart was recruited to help fight crime, these players moved elsewhere!  Another article talked about a new portrait of Mozart that was recently found in Austria.  Art scholars say that this is the most important, authentic portrait of Mozart found since his death in 1791.  The 19-by-14-inch oil painting shows the profile of a man in a bright red jacket. Cliff Eisen said Friday that it is only the fourth known authentic portrait of Mozart from his time when the composer was at his professional height in Vienna, Austria.

The final Mozart article dealt with “Dr. Mozart” and all of the uses being studied and documented for using Mozart’s music for stress management, heart problems and now, epilepsy!  Because each of these articles is rather lengthy let me suggest that is you want to read the entire piece go to www.WhyMozart.blogspot.com.  I’ll be posting to the blog several times a week so let me know what YOU’D like to know more about in the area of music healing, music medicine or music therapy!  See ya online!

Hello world! Welcome to the brand-new Healing Music Enterprises Blog!

March 13th, 2008 · Music Healing

Greetings to all my readers, old and new.  Many of you have been with me for 10 years or more online!  Isn’t that amazing?  When I first started my site back in 1997 I was primarily interested in researching the benefits of tone and chant, thus the screen name “chantdoc.”  Over the past decade I have traveled around the world and people from all walks of life have asked me about how to use music with their newborn, their elderly parent, their teenager, etc., etc.  As a result I have dived headfirst into all of these areas (and many more!) and have discovered the amazing, powerful and multi-faceted uses of music in everyday life.

I sincerely believe that my purpose in life is to help people learn how to use the music they already love to improve their lives, heal their lives, and maximize their potential.  There is so much mis-information out there about medications, illness, supplements, and gadgets that people get terribly confused and just throw it all out the window.  I would like this blog to be one place where people can come and get sound information that is easy implement and brings results, sometimes almost immediately!

So, read the blog daily for maximum learning about the healing power of music.  By the way, my other blogs will stay functional.  The difference between this blog and the others is just that this will be housed on my site instead of on blogger.  As always, if you have questions please don’t hesitate to send them in.
